Fauna and Flora Guide

In the world of soot dwarves, there is a large array of creatures and plants for them to discover. Discovering new species happens almost weekly, and to reflect that, members of the group are able to create their own official species. Member-made species serve the same purpose as any staff made species, your soot dwarf can find them, interact with them, and study them. Some species are small enough that they can be caught or harvested, while others serve medicinal purposes.

It is up to the player on how they want to design their new species. However, there are a few rules and guidelines necessary to make them official.

Member made species cannot:

  • Be larger than a whale

  • Have an intelligence smarter than or equal to a soot dwarf

    • A monkey-level of intelligence would be the absolute max

  • Be a companion pet

    • farm animals are ok, they just cannot be something that follows soot dwarves around on their adventures

  • Be a mount

    • Mounts and ridable pets will be avalible later, with certain group mechanics

  • Be traded or sold

    • you cannot sell designs of the species you create for the group

    • you may design unqiue looking sub-species or characters, they just cannot be traded to other members or any form of real world currency.

    • They cannot be a preexisting species. Drawing concept sketches/drawings prior to it being apart of the group is fine. You just cannot have sold adopts or designs previously.

  • Be unnatural

    • You can make your creature as bizarre as your heart desires, but they must fit into the world of soot dwarves. Your design can't be made of floating gas or have unnatural items attached to it. The creature must follow similar rules of biology as earth animals do.

  • Cannot be magical

    • no magic, sorry

  • Resemble any gore/graphic images

    • Keep it PG-13

Keep in mind any species posted to the group belongs to the group to some extent. Any member of the group can use your species and create characters out of the species. No one, including the group, can monetize your species.

If you wish to remove your species from the group, please send a note requesting its removal.

*You may only post one species a week. This is to help with moderation and encourage users to put effort into their applications.

*You must fill out the application below, and submit a comment to this journal linking

*The species reference must be lined and colored to pass

When making a new species, please fill out the template here

In the description of the deviation, please fill out:

species name:

species height:

species habitat:

how does the species interact with soot dwarves:

how common is the species:

When making a species, it is encouraged to include other information besides the required description. Some traits you might want to include are: are they herd animals, what are their defence mechanisms, what do they eat, are they predators or prey, how do they taste? For plants you may want to include what medicinal properties they have, how long they take to grow, are they toxic? You may also want to include multiple pictures showcasing your new species, which you can link in the desciption.

Danger level, on the template, indicates how dangerous it is for a soot dwarf to interact with the species. A one is harmless, if you punched or ate the species you would be fine. A two star maybe has thorns, or the animal will be defensive if attacked. A five star would be an animal that actively hunts soot dwarves or a plant that is deadly upon touch.

After you are done, please submit a commet to this journal and wait for a moderator to approve it and post your deviation to the group. Once the deviation is posted, the species is an official part of the soot dwarf world.
