What are upgrades? Your soot dwarf starts off simple. With only a few colors and placements. Upgrades help make your soot dwarf more unique. Soot dwarves are an evolving species, so they unlock more upgrades you can apply the more you draw them. 

 

Soot dwarves have a lot of upgrades that they can apply. Some upgrades require you to draw your soot dwarf a certain way, and others require you to have a certain number of exp orbs earned. All of the requirements to earn the upgrade are listed under the example image. You have to fulfill all of the requirements to apply the upgrade.

To apply the upgrade, draw a deviation with your soot dwarf having the upgrades you want. In the description, make sure to list what upgrades you applied, and link to the proof to the requirements. Then, when publishing the deviation to the group, make sure you post your drawing in the "upgrade applying" folder to help moderation.

Unless specified, you cannot draw the requirement and apply the upgrade in the same deviation. They must be separate deviations.

• To remove an upgrade, you must draw your soot dwarf with the upgrade three times in three separate deviations before you can remove it. You must show proof when removing upgrades and post the deviation to the "upgrade applying" folder.

• To reapply a upgrade still on your soot dwarf (ex: change spot pattern) you must draw your soot dwarf three times with the old pattern/placements.

• To reapply a removed upgrade. You must draw your soot dwarf without the upgrade an additional three times in three separate deviations before you can reapply the upgrade. You must show proof when reapplying upgrades and post the deviation to the "upgrade applying" folder.  

  • Special upgrades (such as limited time upgrades) cannot be reapplied when removed. ​
