Travel Guide

In the Soot Dwarf universe, traveling from place to place isn't instant.

In order to have your soot dwarf travel from town to town, you must complete a certain number of drawings to indicate a passage of time.

These prompts can be great opportunities to show your soot dwarf exploring the world around them and knock out some upgrade requirements on the way.

It is highly encouraged to draw your soot dwarf traveling in small groups. Soot dwarves rarely travel alone, and traveling in a group is a good opportunity to increase your friendship level.

Travel prompts must have a certain level of quality:

  • The drawing must have a background

    • This background cannot just be a blue sky on a flat ground

      • add some extra elements to the drawing

  • The drawing must feature your soot dwarf

    • Since the prompt can be more background focused, your soot dwarf doesn't have to be the focus and can be a small figure in the background

  • Shading is recommended, but not required

Travel Times

Travel times, aka how many drawings you have to complete to get from place to place, vary from town to town.

Every day of travel equates to one drawing required

For example, traveling from Red Rock to River Split takes two days. Therefore, it takes two drawings to move your soot dwarf from Red Rock to River Split.

If you wanted to travel from Red Rock to Arka's Cape, you would first have to travel to River Split and then to Arka's Cape. That would take a total of four days.

Travel time can be reduced by using different modes of transportation. Different modes of transportation are currently unavailable in the group.

Traveling from Red Rock to the City of Dogma takes up no travel time. A trolley runs between the two locations, making travel instantaneous.

*Currently, your soot dwarf cannot return to the City of Dogma.

Only five towns are available as of now

  • Red Rock

  • River Split

  • Canopy Village

  • Mill Town

  • Arka's Cape

You can find more about them here

A good way to keep track of where your soot dwarves are is to submit a deviation detailing their locations.

Making a small headshot of your dwarves, and reupdating the deviation with new locations whenever they move can keep you organized.

Here's a link to the map you can draw over: *

Making a separate deviation for travel isn't necessary, and you are free to choose how to keep track of it.
