River Split is a rather makeshift town. When walking through the streets, you get the feeling that nothing was planned out in advance. Streets wind and connect in impractical ways, and the buildings seem about ready to topple over. Some of the houses overlap each other as if fighting for extra space. Despite the buildings being less than thirty years old, they appear as if they've stood for centuries. The town makes its home on top of a lake. Traditionally, River Split is a fishing town but has recently become popular for its casinos and speakeasies.

River Split has a relatively high rate of crime. The crown refuses to fund the town any more than the bare minimum, so the streets are left uncontrolled. Adventurers are warned to keep their wallets and jewelry hidden or else they might get mugged. Due to territory disputes, the city is split into two sections on either side of the lake. A ferry can take you across to either side, but they are often setups to rob adventurers.

The citizens of River Split are callous. In order to protect themselves, they don't trust anybody. Anybody with money wouldn't be living here, and anybody to appears to have money is suspicious. If your soot dwarf is looking to lead a life of crime, they've come to the right place.

Tucked away somewhere, there's rumored to be a Thieve's Guild. A guild where they teach young soot dwarves, regardless of background, less than legal skills. Rumors about it are very hush-hush, but many believe the guild to be linked to the Fisherman's Union. Currently, your soot dwarf is unable to find or interact with this guild.
