Red Rock

Named after the famous adventurer, Arka’s Cape is a small coastal town located in the uppermost part of the valley. Arka’s Cape is far from tropical, as strong ocean winds frequent the area. The town is a popular tourist attraction, as many dwarves want to get a glimpse at the ocean.

Arka’s Cape supplies a lot of power from wind turbines planted at the base of the mountain. The town, unlike many of its sisters, has running water and electricity thanks to the turbines. Because of this, Arka’s Cape has expensive real estate. Most soot dwarves cannot afford to live in the area and can only visit as a tourist.

Alongside the beach, the town has set up numerous tents for your soot dwarf to camp at. The tents are free to use, and a nearby building equipped with hot showers. These camps are a good place to meet up with other soot dwarves and have a campfire. Because of the numerous tidepools surrounding the cape and strong winds, swimming in the ocean is not recommended. Instead, tourists can rent a ferry to take them across the water. About a day’s trip away, a large island rests in the ocean. A strong, constant whirlwind prevents any ships from getting too close, but the natural phenomenon is a sight to see.

Arka’s Cape is known for housing rare and magical artifacts. On Thursdays, the town hosts a special market, showcasing many items you can’t get anywhere else. Auctions and raffles are held each week in this town. You can check out the weekly market here.

Arka’s Cape is also home to the Workers' Guild. A large union of soot dwarves dedicated to teaching newcomers their trade. Here, your soot dwarf can learn new skills by taking on an apprenticeship. Classes are currently closed, but eventually, your soot dwarf will be able to attend them.

Red Rock is the largest above-ground city soot dwarves inhabit. It was founded shortly after the outside world was discovered. The city serves to transport goods in and out of Dogma City and is the main trading hub of the region. A large trolley runs back and forth between the entrance gate and Red Rock, making travel time between the two places minuscule.

Red Rock is home of the Adventurer's Guild. Here, new adventurers receive new quests and rank up their membership. Membership is mandatory for any first generation adventurers, so the guild has gained a large political presence.

The city is mostly barren of wildlife, being built on top of a rock quarry. Most food and natural resources are imported from either River Split or Mill Town. Red Rock supports itself financially with its mines. Rich ores and minerals are found against the mountainside. Dogma City, with most of its mines depleted, relies on Red Rock for precious stones and metals. Red Rock's mines have an unnatural amount of diversity to them and archeologists are still puzzled by the cause.

Technology-wise, Red Rock varies. In the richer neighborhoods, electricity and indoor plumbing is a commonplace. However, as you move further away from the mountain slopes, you find poorer neighborhoods. The lower and middle class do not have as much access to plumbing and electricity. Most soot dwarves in this area have to use the public bathhouse or rely on candlelight in the evenings.
